Humanities Team Leader
My name is Sarah McHugh and I am in my third year of teaching at Lobley Hill Primary School. Prior to Lobley Hill, I taught at Oxclose Primary in Washington for two years. I have been teaching in UKS2 for the last two years and am thoroughly enjoying it. Although it can be a challenge, I love being involved in the childrens’ education and am lucky to see the progress they make in their early years of education. I completed my Teacher Training Degree at York St John University, where I graduated in 2013. I loved living in York for three years, it’s a beautiful city.
I have really enjoyed my time at Lobley Hill so far; I have made friends for life, formed excellent relationships with the children and parents/carers and feel content in my role of Class Teacher. I have been a Mentor to SCITT students over my time here and am currently leading R.E across school. I feel my strengths are my communication skills, my ability to adapt lessons so that all children can access the curriculum and my enthusiasm in my teaching.
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cooking healthy (ish) meals and decorating my house, which I bought last year. I am excited to see what the future holds at Lobley Hill and I hope I can develop my skills further over the rest of my career.
