Individual Liberty

At Lobley Hill, we want every child to feel confident in who they are, understand their rights and responsibilities, and feel able to make positive choices. We encourage children to become independent, resilient and confident individuals who understand that with freedom comes responsibility.

We do this by:

  • Building confidence and self-esteem: Through all areas of school life, we provide children with opportunities to discover their strengths, develop new skills and feel proud of their achievements.
  • Encouraging independence and responsibility: We help children understand that they have rights, while also recognising their responsibilities towards themselves and others. We encourage pupils to take responsibility for their choices and behaviour.
  • Challenging stereotypes: Through our curriculum, books and stories, PSHE lessons, assemblies and discussions about future careers, we encourage children to recognise and question stereotypes and understand that everyone should have the opportunity to achieve their ambitions.
  • Promoting a strong anti-bullying culture: We are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, valued and included. Our approach to relationships and anti-bullying helps children understand the importance of kindness, respect and speaking up when something does not feel right.
