Lobley Hill Primary School is working closely with the Local Authority in order to improve school attendance and punctuality throughout the school. We recognise the importance of working with parents and carers who have a legal responsibility to ensure their child achieves satisfactory levels of attendance.
Regular and punctual school attendance is important. Pupils need to attend school regularly if they are to take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them. Lobley Hill Primary School fully recognises its responsibilities to ensure pupils are in school and on time, therefore having access to learning for the maximum number of days and hours.
Although parents/carers have the legal responsibility for ensuring their child’s good attendance, the Headteacher and governors at our school work together with other professionals and agencies to ensure that all pupils are encouraged and supported to develop good attendance habits. Procedures within the school Attendance Policy 2024 are followed to ensure this happens.
Being in school and having the best attendance possible underpins the many benefits of school for children, such as their learning, their social development, emotional well-being and the wider development preparing children for their future.
For some children, attending school every day will be harder than for others. This is why school is committed to working together with families and in some cases, outside agencies to help solve problems and support children’s attendance therefore their overall development.
If your child needs to be absent from school, a phone call or email to the office must to be made informing school of a reason for absence. Any requests for a leave of absence can be made to the Headteacher via the link below. Please ensure this is submitted in a timely manner.
If you are unsure whether your child is well enough to attend school, please refer to the guidelines below:
Please refer to the following overview for information on our staged approach to improving attendance. Further detail is included within the Attendance Policy.
