Online Safety

We live in a rapidly changing digital world where technology continues to evolve and become an integral part of everyday life. Children are now using a wide range of electronic devices from an increasingly young age, allowing them to communicate, learn and access information instantly.

The internet offers many exciting opportunities, helping people connect, learn and share experiences in ways that were not possible before the development of modern technology. However, being online also presents challenges and risks. Without appropriate guidance and support, children may be exposed to unsuitable content, unsafe interactions or online behaviours that could put them at risk.

At Lobley Hill Primary School, we recognise the importance of helping children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to use technology safely and responsibly. We are committed to teaching our pupils how to navigate the online world securely so they can enjoy the many benefits of technology while understanding how to protect themselves and others.

Online safety is embedded throughout our curriculum, particularly within Computing and PSHE. Children are taught about age-appropriate online risks, including cyberbullying, privacy, digital footprints, online relationships and how to report concerns. As technology continues to develop, our online safety education evolves to ensure that learning remains current, relevant and effective.

How can parents/carers develop their understanding of how to keep children safe online?
